What is Acnederm (Azelaic Acid) used for?

Acnederm (Azelaic Acid) is a topical treatment for acne. This medication is a type of dicarboxylic acid, which reduces the amount of bacteria which cause acne, and helps with the skin renewal process, thereby reducing the formation of pimples and blackheads.

How should I use Acnederm (Azelaic Acid)?

This medication comes in the form of a lotion or cream, which is applied directly to the area of the skin requiring treatment, usually twice per day, once in the morning and again in the evening, or as directed by your physician. A thin layer is applied to the affected area, after which it can be rubbed in. Remember to wash your hands after using it, and to use this medication exactly as directed by your physician.

What are the side effects of Acnederm (Azelaic Acid)?

Acnederm (Azelaic Acid) may cause:

If these side effects become bothersome or persist, you should immediately consult your physician. He or she may tell you to only use it once per day.
