Amaryl (Glimepiride) is used to treat type 2 diabetes. This drug causes the pancreas to produce more insulin, and to use the insulin more efficiently, which can help to lower blood sugar. This can help to control type 2 diabetes. This drug is not used to treat type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
