What is Bleph-10 Eye Drops (Sulfacetamide Sodium) used for?

Bleph-10 Eye Drops (Sulfacetamide Sodium) is given to patients to treat bacterial infections of the eye, such as conjunctivitis. This product belongs to a class of medications known as sulfa antibiotics. It works by preventing the bacteria from growing. Patients should note that this medication is only suitable for treating bacterial infections, and will not treat other types of eye infections.

How should I use Bleph-10 Eye Drops (Sulfacetamide Sodium)?

Bleph-10 Eye Drops (Sulfacetamide Sodium) are applied directly to the eye. You should take care not to touch the dropper tip or allow it to touch any other surface, as this may cause contamination. To apply the drops, tilt your head backwards, and pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch. Apply one drop to the eye. After applying the drop, you may gently press the corner of your eye, next to your nose. This can prevent the medication from dripping out. Repeat this process as necessary. Continue using this medication for the entire period for which it was prescribed.

What are the side effects of Bleph-10 Eye Drops (Sulfacetamide Sodium)?

Bleph-10 Eye Drops (Sulfacetamide Sodium) may cause some side effects to occur, such as:

  • Redness occurring in the eye
  • Stinging in the eye
  • Blurred vision

Patients should consult their physician immediately if any of these side effects persist or worsen, or if any other more serious side effects occur, such as painful or swollen joints, fever, anemia symptoms, easy bruising, discolored urine, yellowing of the eyes or skin, severe nausea or vomiting.
