What is Era (Erthromycin Stearate) used for?

Era (Erthromycin Stearate) is a type of antibiotic, which is prescribed as a treatment for bacterial infections. Infections it is commonly prescribed to treat include diphtheria, Legionnaires' disease, bronchitis, whooping cough, venereal diseases, pneumonia, as well as bacterial infections affecting the ear, urinary tract, skin, intestine and others. It may sometimes be given to patients before undergoing surgery or dental procedures, in order to prevent infection.
