What is Meftal (Mefenamic Acid) used for?

Meftal (Mefenamic Acid) is a type of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, or NSAID which is given to patients as a short term treatment for mild or moderate pain occurring as a result of a variety of conditions. This drug may also be used to reduce pain and loss of blood from menstrual periods.

How should I use Meftal (Mefenamic Acid)?

Meftal (Mefenamic Acid) tablets should be swallowed whole, with a glass of water, exactly as directed by your physician. Some patients may be told to take these tablets with food, at 6 hour intervals, usually 4 times per day, for a period of 1 week. You should follow the instructions provided to you by your physician, and never exceed the recommended dosage.

What are the side effects of Meftal (Mefenamic Acid)?

Some patients taking Meftal (Mefenamic Acid) may notice side effects, such as:

  • Indigestion

  • Ringing noise in the ears
