What is Nitrolingual (Glyceryl Trinitrate) used for?

Nitrolingual (Glyceryl Trinitrate) is a spray that is used right before undergoing physical activity such as sexual intercourse or activity, to prevent the occurrence of chest pain in patients suffering from coronary artery disease, and to provide relief from chest pain that has already occurred. Angina is caused by a lack of blood reaching the heart. This medication is a type of nitrate, which widens the blood vessels so that more blood can flow to the heart.

How should I use Nitrolingual (Glyceryl Trinitrate)?

Nitrolingual (Glyceryl Trinitrate) spray should be primed before using it, by spraying the pump into the air. This spray should be administered into the mouth, and it works best if sprayed under the tongue. You should administer 1 to 2 sprays into the mouth. After you have administered it, you should not eat or spit for 5 to 10 minutes.

This medication is normally used 5 to 10 minutes before physical activity. Or if you are using it to relieve chest pain, use it as soon as the pain occurs. If your pain does not improve after 5 minutes or worsens, seek immediate emergency medical attention. After dialing 911, you should use another spray. If you still have pain 5 minutes after the spray, use a third spray. However do not use more than 3 sprays for one attack.
