What is Tiova (Tiotropium Bromide) used for?

Tiova (Tiotropium Bromide) is used in the treatment and prevention of the wheezing and breathlessness occurring as a result of lung disease, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (including emphysema and bronchitis). This drug is a type of bronchodilator, which is effective in treating these symptoms by helping to relax the muscles in the airways, causing them to open up. This helps the patient to breathe easier. However, it is not suitable for the treatment of sudden asthma attacks.

How should I use Tiova (Tiotropium Bromide)?

Tiova (Tiotropium Bromide) is inhaled orally. If you are using the rotacaps, they must be inhaled using the Rotahaler or Revolizer. Patients using the metered dose inhaler may use the provided inhaler. The exact dosage required varies, depending on the condition being treated and you should always consult your physician before using this medication, so that the correct dosage can be prescribed.

What are the side effects of Tiova (Tiotropium Bromide)?

Some side effects may occur as a result of using Tiova (Tiotropium Bromide), such as:

  • Dryness in the mouth
  • Nausea, vomiting or constipation
  • Nasal congestion or a sore throat
  • Nosebleeds
  • Muscular aches and pain

You should immediately consult your physician if any of these side effects persist or worsen. This medication may also cause other more serious side effects that require immediate medical attention, such as a serious worsening of breathing difficulties, changes in vision, pain in the eyes, a rapid pounding heartbeat or difficulty urinating.

Please Note

Strictly follow all instructions provided to you by your physician or pharmacist while using Tiova (Tiotropium Bromide). Optimum and safe dosage can differ based on the patient and the condition being treated.
