What is Catapres (Clonidine) used for?

Catapres (Clonidine) is used to treat the symptoms of high blood pressure (Hypertension). The active agent of this medication works to block the chemicals which restrict blood vessels. This allows them to widen which decreases pressure and the work load put on the heart to circulate the blood in the body. Catapres (Clonidine) should be taken orally and washed down with a full glass of water, with or without food. Typically, one 150mcg tablet is taken once a day in the morning or evening.
