What is Dandrop Lotion (Ketoconazole/Zinc Pyrithone) used for?

Dandrop Lotion (Ketoconazole/Zinc Pyrithone) is used to treat and prevent seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff. It is effective in treating the itchiness, flaking of the skin and scalp that occurs as a result of dandruff. The active ingredient ketoconazole is an antifungal which kills the fungus that causes the skin condition, and zinc pyrithone helps to reduce the flakiness.

How should I use Dandrop Lotion (Ketoconazole/Zinc Pyrithone)?

Dandrop Lotion (Ketoconazole/Zinc Pyrithone) should be applied only to the scalp and skin. Make sure that the area affected is clean, and apply a small amount of this lotion to the affected area and to the skin next to the affected area. It is usually applied once per day, or as directed by your physician. Patients are usually told to use this lotion for 2 weeks. It is important not to wash the area treated for 3 hours after you apply this lotion, and to wait at least 20 minutes before you apply makeup or sunscreen to the skin that has been treated.
