What is Eptus (Eplerenone) used for?

Eptus (Eplerenone) may be given to patients to treat congestive heart failure after a heart attack, or it may be given to treat high blood pressure. It belongs to a class of medications known as mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists. This drug inhibits the action of a hormone called aldosterone in the body that can cause blood pressure to raise.

How should I use Eptus (Eplerenone)?

Patients who have been prescribed Eptus (Eplerenone) by their physician are often told to take a low dose at first, which is sometimes increased after 4 weeks. It is also important for patients to be aware that it may take up to one month for an improvement to be noticed. This drug does not cure high blood pressure, and only manages it.
