What is Estradot (Oestradiol) used for?

Estradot (Oestradiol) transdermal patches contain the active ingredient, oestradiol (also known as estradiol), which is a form of the female hormone estrogen. These patches are applied to the skin as a treatment for menopause symptoms, including vaginal irritation, dryness or itchiness, and also hot flashes. Other uses for these patches include being used to treat osteoporosis.

How should I use Estradot (Oestradiol)?

Estradot (Oestradiol) patches should be applied to the skin, exactly as prescribed by your physician. It is best if these patches are applied to the lower abdomen or the top of the buttocks. You must consult your physician to determine how often you need to apply these patches, and the strength of patch required. It is common for patients to be told to use a lower strength patch at first. Your physician may tell you to apply one patch twice per week. Ensure that you don't apply a patch to the same area of skin consecutively, and you should never apply it to broken, cut or damaged skin.

What are the side effects of Estradot (Oestradiol)?

Estradot (Oestradiol) can cause side effects, such as:

  • Irritation, redness or itching underneath the patch
  • Vaginal discharge or itching
  • Painful or tender breasts
  • Loss of hair
  • Hair loss or unusual hair growth

These patches may also cause other side effects. You should immediately inform your physician if you experience any side effects while using these patches.

Please Note

Strictly follow all instructions provided to you by your physician or pharmacist while using Estradot (Oestradiol). Optimum and safe dosage can differ based on the patient and the condition being treated.
