What is Famox (Famotidine) used for?

Famox (Famotidine) is a H2 histamine blocker, which works by decreasing the amount of acid in the stomach, thereby helping to prevent and heal ulcers, while also relieving heartburn and stomach pain. This drug is commonly used to treat ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and other conditions. It is also used to prevent heartburn and indigestion.

How should I use Famox (Famotidine)?

The dosage required for patients taking Famox (Famotidine) tablets depends on the condition being treated. Your physician will decide the correct dosage required to treat your condition. Adult patients are sometimes told to take this medication once per day, at bedtime. However, other patients may be told to take it 2 to 4 times per day, depending on the dosage prescribed by the physician. If you are using it to treat or prevent indigestion, you may be told to take it 15 to 60 minutes prior to eating food that causes indigestion. However, do not use it for more than 2 weeks to treat indigestion.
