What is Foracort (Budesonide/Formoterol) used for?

Foracort (Budesonide/Formoterol) is used in the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It contains the active ingredients budesonide and formoterol. Budesonide is a type of corticosteroid that works by decreasing inflammation in the lungs. Formoterol is a type of medication known as a bronchodilator, which works by helping the airways to open, thereby making breathing easier. This medication is not suitable for relieving sudden asthma attacks.

How should I use Foracort (Budesonide/Formoterol)?

Patients using Foracort (Budesonide/Formoterol) should first prime the inhaler if using it for the first time. It is also important to shake the inhaler well before each use. After shaking it, the inhaler may be inserted into the mouth, and the medication inhaled. Patients are sometimes directed to administer this medication twice per day, once in the morning and once in the evening, usually 12 hours apart. It is important to consult your physician before taking this medication so that the correct dosage can be prescribed and proper instructions on its usage given. Patients should be aware that it may take up to 2 weeks for the full benefits of this drug to be noticed.

  • Nasal congestion
  • Muscular pain or back pain
  • Changes in voice
