What is Furoxone (Furazolidone) used for?

Furoxone (Furazolidone) is prescribed to patients suffering from bacterial and protozoal infections. This drug works by fighting and killing bacteria and protozoa that cause infections. Certain types of protozoa are parasites which cause a variety of infections in the body. Infections this drug treats include cholera, diarrhea and colitis, occurring as a result of bacteria. It also treats giardiasis.

How should I use Furoxone (Furazolidone)?

Furoxone (Furazolidone) tablets should be taken by mouth. Adult patients are sometimes directed to take 100mg 4 times per day, usually for a period of 5 to 10 days.
