What is Grisovin FP (Griseofulvin) used for?

Grisovin FP (Griseofulvin) is a type of antifungal antibiotic which works by fighting infections caused by fungus, such as athlete's foot, ringworm and jock itch. It may also be used to treat infections of the fingernails, toenails or scalp.

How should I use Grisovin FP (Griseofulvin)?

Grisovin FP (Griseofulvin) tablets are taken orally. The dosage prescribed usually depends on the condition being treated. Follow the instructions of your physician. Patients are sometimes directed to take it once per day, however other patients may be told to take it 2 to 4 times per day. Patients treating skin infections are usually instructed to take it for 2 to 4 weeks, infections of the scalp and hair often require 4 to 6 weeks of treatment and foot infections may require 4 to 8 weeks of treatment. However, fingernail and toenail infections require longer treatments, with 3 to 4 months of treatment necessary for fingernail infections, and 6 months treatment for toenail infections.
