What is Ketorol (Ketorolac) used for?

Ketorol (Ketorolac) is used as a short term treatment for pain, such as that caused by surgery. It is a type of drug known as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID), which prevents pain and swelling by inhibiting the body's production of the substances which cause them. However, this drug should not be used as a long term treatment, such as for conditions such as arthritis.

How should I use Ketorol (Ketorolac)?

When Ketorol (Ketorolac) tablets are being used for the treatment of pain, they are usually taken once every 4 to 6 hours, or your physician may recommend them to be taken as needed. If you have been instructed to take these tablets as part of a schedule, you should take them at the same time every day. Always follow the instructions of the prescribing physician and never exceed the recommended dose.

What are the side effects of Ketorol (Ketorolac)?

Patients who use Ketorol (Ketorolac) tablets to treat pain may notice some side effects, such as:

  • A dizzy sensation, headaches or sleepiness
  • Stomach upset, nausea, loose stools or costiveness
  • Acid indigestion, gas or pain in the stomach
  • Increased perspiration
  • Changes in hearing, such as a ringing noise in the ears

Although these side effects are not considered to be serious, you should immediately consult your physician if they persist or worsen. Other more serious side effects requiring immediate medical attention include bloody stools, coughing up blood, pain in the chest, breathlessness, fever or seizures.

Please Note

Strictly follow all instructions provided to you by your physician or pharmacist while using Ketorol (Ketorolac). Optimum and safe dosage can differ based on the patient and the condition being treated.
