What is Minirin Nasal Spray (Desmopressin Acetate) used for?

Minirin Nasal Spray (Desmopressin Acetate) is given to patients suffering from a condition known as diabetes insipidus (water diabetes) in which the body's production of urine is abnormally large. It is also used to help prevent and control extreme thirst and excessive urination occurring as a result of surgery. Apart from the above mentioned uses, this product may also be used by patients with certain bleeding disorders to stop bleeding. This drug works by replacing a hormone in the body, known as vasopressin, which helps to balance the quantity of salt and water in the body.

How should I use Minirin Nasal Spray (Desmopressin Acetate)?

Minirin Nasal Spray (Desmopressin Acetate) should be sprayed directly into the nose. Patients may be directed to use it 1 to 3 times per day. Patients who are using this drug to treat bleeding problems may be given their first dosage in a physician's office, and your physician will need to order laboratory tests to determine whether or not this treatment is suitable for you. If this medication appears less effective after 6 months of use, you should consult your physician.

What are the side effects of Minirin Nasal Spray (Desmopressin Acetate)?

Please Note
