What is Pacifen (Baclofen) used for?

Pacifen (Baclofen) works by acting on the spinal cord. It helps to reduce the amount of muscle spasms, while also relieving pain. This drug is prescribed to treat multiple sclerosis and other spinal cord injuries or diseases. It may also be prescribed to treat other conditions, and there is evidence to suggest that it is useful for treating alcoholism.

How should I use Pacifen (Baclofen)?

Pacifen (Baclofen) tablets should be taken orally. You must consult your physician to determine the correct dosage. Low doses of this drug are normally prescribed at first, which may then be gradually increased by the prescribing physician, until the correct dosage is determined. You will probably be told to take 15mg per day, divided into 3 doses to begin with. Your physician may then increase your dose, and you may be told to take anything from 30mg to 75mg per day. Some patients may even be told to take more than this. Follow the instructions of your physician, and only take the amount prescribed to you.

What are the side effects of Pacifen (Baclofen)?

Side effects of Pacifen (Baclofen) include:

  • Dizziness, fatigue or drowsiness
  • Nausea or stomach cramps
  • Changes in vision
  • Increased weight
  • Decreased sexual ability
