What is Omnacortil (Prednisolone) used for?

Omnacortil (Prednisolone) is used to treat various conditions, such as arthritis, conditions affecting the skin and eyes, breathing difficulties, allergies, immune system disorders and cancer. This drug is a type of corticosteroid which is effective in treating these symptoms by reducing the immune responsne to diseases, thereby helping to decrease pain, inflammation and allergic reactions.

How should I use Omnacortil (Prednisolone)?

Omnacortil (Prednisolone) tablets should be taken orally. In order to avoid stomach upset, you can take them with food. Remember to take it with a full glass of water. Adults who are using this drug are sometimes directed to take one tablet 1 to 4 times per day, depending on the severity of the condition being treated. Your physician will prescribe the correct dose to you. Never suddenly discontinue taking this medication unless your physician has instructed you to do so, as this may cause withdrawal symptoms. Consult your physician as your dosage may need to be gradually reduced.

What are the side effects of Omnacortil (Prednisolone)?

There are some side effects associated with Omnacortil (Prednisolone) such as:

  • Nausea or dizziness
  • Heartburn
  • Sweating
  • Acne
  • Changes in menstrual periods

This drug may also cause other more serious side effects in patients that use it. Should you notice changes in vision, symptoms of pancreatitis, signs of low potassium, high blood pressure or seizures, you should immediately consult your physican.
