What is Pro-Banthine (Propantheline) used for?

Pro-Banthine (Propantheline) is used by patients who have stomach ulcers to help reduce stomach acid. It works by reducing the release of stomach acid by the stomach. This drug is also used in the treatment of other conditions, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome.

How should I use Pro-Banthine (Propantheline)?

Patients taking Pro-Banthine (Propantheline) tablets should follow the instructions of their physician. Your physician may direct you to take these tablets 4 times per day. Take these tablets 30 minutes before meals and just before going to bed. Follow the instructions provided to you by your physician.

What are the side effects of Pro-Banthine (Propantheline)?

Patients who take Pro-Banthine (Propantheline) tablets may experience some side effects, such as:

  • Dryness of the mouth
  • Blurred vision
  • Wider pupils
  • Sensitivity of the eyes to light
  • Changes in sense of taste
