What is Retin-A Micro Gel (Tretinion) used for?

Retin-A Micro Gel (Tretinion) is in a class of medications known as retinoids, which work by affecting skin cell growth and helping the skin to renew itself. It is used as a treatment for acne. It may also be used to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, to improve the skin's appearance, and also for other skin conditions.

How should I use Retin-A Micro Gel (Tretinion)?

Retin-A Micro Gel (Tretinion) is applied directly to the skin, exactly as prescribed by your physician. You may be told to apply it once per day, at bedtime, or else once every 2 to 3 days. It is important to note that your acne may worsen during the first 7 to 10 days of treatment. You should continue using it, as these sores should disappear. It normally takes 2 to 3 weeks before an improvement is noticed, however it may sometimes take more than 6 weeks to notice an improvement.

What are the side effects of Retin-A Micro Gel (Tretinion)?

Retin-A Micro Gel (Tretinion) may cause:

  • A slight stinging sensation
  • An increase in acne at the start of treatment
  • Darkening of the skin
  • Scaling
  • Blistering of the skin

You should consult your physician if any of these side effects persist or worsen.
