What is Ribavin (Ribavirin) used for?

Ribavin (Ribavirin) is used together with another interferon medication as a treatment for hepatitis C. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as nucleoside analogues, which stop the virus responsible for causing hepatitis C from spreading in the body. It may also be used as a treatment for sever acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

How should I use Ribavin (Ribavirin)?

Ribavin (Ribavirin) capsules should be taken by mouth. These capsules are normally taken twice per day, usually once in the morning, and again in the evening. The period of treatment can range from 24 to 48 weeks. During the course of treatment, your physician may conduct laboratory tests to monitor your condition, and depending on the results of these tests, he or she may reduce your dosage or tell you to discontinue taking it.
