What is Span-K (Potassium Chloride) used for?

Span K (Potassium Chloride) contains the mineral potassium which is needed by the body to help the heart, kidneys and muscles function properly. These tablets are taken to treat or prevent low levels of potassium in the blood. Low levels of potassium may occur as a result of poor dietary habits, or because of a prolonged period of vomiting or diarrhea. This mineral supplement helps to restore the levels of potassium in the blood, which in turn helps to keep the heart, kidneys and muscles working properly.

How should I use Span-K (Potassium Chloride)?

Span K (Potassium Chloride) tablets are swallowed whole and washed down with a glass of water. They should not be chewed, crushed or dissolved. To prevent stomach upset, take alongside a meal. Patients should consult their physician before taking this medication in order to determine the correct dosage required to treat their particular condition. Never exceed the dose recommended to you by your physician, as high levels of potassium in the blood can often result in serious side effects.
