This is accomplished by causing the blood vessels in the brain to constrict helping to reduce migraine pain. It also serves to reduce sensitivity to light and sound and other associated symptoms. This medication is meant to treat headaches as they occur and not to prevent them from occuring.

How should I use Suminat (Sumatriptan Succinate)?

Suminat (Sumatriptan Succinate) should be taken at the first sign of a migraine. Your doctor may recommend one tablet to begin with and may increase your dosage based on your response. 200 mg is the maximum daily dosage and should not be exceeded. Tablets should be taken with a full glass of water and may be consumed with or without food. If you experience stomach discomfort, you may want to eat a snack before taking your prescribed dosage. Never crush or chew the tablets as this could destroy the medicine or disturb its timing and cause further health problems.
