What is Zyrtec (Cetirizine) used for?

Zyrtec (Cetirizine) is an antihistamine that is used to treat allergy symptoms such as itchiness, sneezing, watery eyes and runny nose. It can also be used to treat itching and swelling caused by hives. This drug is proven to alleviate these symptoms by inhibiting the action of the natural chemical histamine, which causes the symptoms of allergies to occur.

How should I use Zyrtec (Cetirizine)?

Zyrtec (Cetirizine) tablets should be taken orally. Patients are normally directed to take one 10mg tablet per day, unless told to do otherwise by their physician. Always consult your physician before taking this medication so that the correct dosage can be prescribed to you, and so that you can be advised on how long treatment is necessary.
