What is Femara (Letrozole) used for?

Femara (Letrozole) is given to postmenopausal women to treat breast cancer. It is also used to help prevent the return of cancer. Certain types of cancer need the hormone estrogen to grow. This drug works by decreasing the amount of estrogen produced by the body which can help to inhibit the growth of these cancers. This drug is not used in women of childbearing age.
