What is Genox (Tamoxifen Citrate) used for?

Genox (Tamoxifen Citrate) is given to postmenopausal women to treat the symptoms of certain types of breast cancer. This drug is also used to help prevent the cancer from returning. It belongs to a class of medications known as antiestrogens, which work by decreasing the body's production of estrogen, which in turn helps to slow down and inhibit the growth of cancers that require estrogen to grow. Apart from the above mentioned uses, this drug may sometimes be used to induce ovulation in women, and to treat a condition known as McCune-Albright syndrome.

How should I use Genox (Tamoxifen Citrate)?

Patients taking Genox (Tamoxifen Citrate) may be directed to take 1 to 2 tablets per day, with or without food. However, all patients must first consult their physician so that the correct dosage can be prescribed. Patients using this drug to prevent breast cancer may be required to take it for up to 5 years. If it is being used to treat breast cancer, your physician will inform you as to how long treatment is required. It is essential to follow all instructions given by your physician.

What are the side effects of Genox (Tamoxifen Citrate)?

Patients taking Genox (Tamoxifen Citrate) may notice some side effects, such as:

  • Flushing

Patients should immediately consult their physician if any of the above mentioned side effects persist or worsen, or if any other more serious side effects occur, such as broken bones, changes in behavior, unusual bleeding from the vagina, yellowing of the eyes or skin, severe nausea, tiredness, loss of breath or coughing up blood.

Please Note

Strictly follow all instructions provided to you by your physician or pharmacist while using Genox (Tamoxifen Citrate). Optimum and safe dosage can differ based on the patient and the condition being treated.
