What is Naprosyn (Naproxen) used for?

Naprosyn (Naproxen) is a non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug which is used as a treatment for pain or swelling occurring as a result of different conditions, such as arthritis, tendinitis, gout, bursitis, ankylosing spondylitis or menstrual pain. It is also given to treat mild pain caused by headaches, toothaches, backaches and to reduce fever. This drug reduces the hormones which cause swelling and pain to occur in the body.

How should I use Naprosyn (Naproxen)?

Patients taking Naprosyn (Naproxen) tablets to treat their symptoms should note that the dose required depends on the condition being treated. Some patients treating arthritis may be told to take it twice per day. If you are treating gout, you may be told to take them at 8 hour intervals, whereas patients treating pain may be told to take them every 6 to 8 hours as required. Do not exceed the maximum dosage as prescribed by your physician.

What are the side effects of Naprosyn (Naproxen)?

Some side effects of Naprosyn (Naproxen) include:

  • Constipation, diarrhea or gas
  • Changes in hearing
  • Thirst
  • Sores in mouth
  • Cold symptoms
