What is Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin) used for?

Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin) are used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, and ear infections caused by bacteria, such as swimmer's ear and infections of the middle ear or ear canal. The active ingredient in this product is a type of quinolone antibiotic, which works by preventing the bacteria from growing.

How should I use Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin)?

Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin) should be applied directly to the area requiring treatment, whether it's the ear or the eye. To apply it to the eye, you should pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch. Apply the prescribed amount of drops to the pouch, usually 1 drop or more. Gently press the corner of the eye, next to the nose for 1 minute, to prevent the medication from dripping out. Repeat for the other eye if necessary. If you are treating an ear infection, you should lie down, with your ear facing upwards. Apply the drops to the ear, and stay in this position for 1 to 2 minutes, to help the ear to absorb the medication.

What are the side effects of Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin)?

Side effects of Oflox Eye/Ear Drops (Ofloxacin) include:

  • Blurred vision if applied to the eyes
  • Eye or ear pain, depending on where the drops are applied
  • Itchiness or dryness where the drops are applied
  • Sensitivity of the eyes to light
  • Dizziness

Consult your physician if you become worried about any side effects.
