What is Spirotone (Spironolactone) used for?

Spirotone (Spironolactone) can be used to treat low levels of potassium and also conditions that result in the body producing excessive amounts of a natural chemical known as aldosterone. This drug is a type of potassium sparing diuretic, which prevents the body from absorbing unneeded salt while also preventing the potassium levels from getting too low. Other conditions this drug is used to treat include edema occurring as a result of congestive heart failure, hypertension and hyperaldosteronism.

How should I use Spirotone (Spironolactone)?

Spirotone (Spironolactone) tablets should be taken orally, exactly as directed by your physician. Patients are usually advised to take this drug early in the day, preferably before 6pm to avoid waking up during the night to urinate. This drug is normally taken once or twice per day. Your physician will advise you on how much and how often to take it. Patients may need to take this drug for up to 2 weeks before they notice the full benefits.

What are the side effects of Spirotone (Spironolactone)?
