What is Zantac (Ranitidine Hydrochloride) used for?

Zantac (Ranitidine Hydrochloride) is a histamine 2 blocker, which reduces acid production in the stomach. It is normally prescribed to patients suffering from conditions related to excess stomach acid production, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Other conditions it treats include ulcers and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), a condition caused by the backward flow of stomach acid. Other related conditions may also be treated by this drug, such as preventing acid indigestion.

How should I use Zantac (Ranitidine Hydrochloride)?

Zantac (Ranitidine Hydrochloride) may sometimes be taken once per day, just before going to bed. However, the dosage can vary, depending on the patient's medical history. Other patients may be told to take it 1 to 2 times per day. Your physician will tell you the dose required to treat your condition. Patients taking this drug to prevent acid indigestion may be told to take it 30 to 60 minutes prior to eating food that causes symptoms.

  • Dizziness or headaches
