What is Anabrez (Anastrozole) used for?

Anabrez (Anastrozole) is given to postmenopausal women to help inhibit the growth of breast tumors. This drug works by helping to reduce the levels of the estrogen in the body, which is needed by the tumor to grow. It is often given to patients whose cancer has progressed after taking other drugs, such as tamoxifen.

How should I use Anabrez (Anastrozole)?

Anabrez (Anastrozole) comes in the form of tablets. Your physician may direct you to take one tablet per day. However, it is essential that patients consult their physician before taking this medication, in order for the correct amount to be prescribed. It is important to note that patients may need to continue taking this medication for a long period of time. Do not discontinue treatment unless told to do so by your physician.

What are the side effects of Anabrez (Anastrozole)?

Anabrez (Anastrozole) may cause some side effects to occur, such as:

  • Weak hands or wrists
  • Pain in the joints
  • Changes in mood or difficulty sleeping
  • Hair loss
  • Nausea
  • Pain in the back or bones
