Armotraz (Anastrozole) is prescribed to post menopausal women as a treatment for breast cancer. This drug belongs to a class of medications called nonsteroidal aromatase inhibitors. It lowers the levels of estrogen, a hormone produced naturally by the body. This in turn may help to slow down or stop the growth of certain types of tumors which require estrogen to grow.
